The Arab Academy of Sciences awards Hessa Al Malek an honorary doctorate

The Executive Council of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport granted the Advisor to the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure for Maritime Transport Affairs, Engineer Hessa Bint Ahmed Al Malik, an honorary doctorate degree in management and development of the maritime sector, during a ceremony held in the British capital, London, on the sidelines of the meetings of the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Engineer Hessa Al Malek is the first Arab woman to receive this honorary degree from the Academy, and the fourth person to obtain it since its founding, in the presence of the President of the International Maritime Organization, the Secretary-General of the Organization, and the President of the Arab Academy, along with representatives of the UAE Embassy in London and a number of maritime delegates and attachés.

This honor comes in recognition of a long professional career during which he contributed to creating a qualitative shift in the maritime sector in the UAE by developing and modernizing maritime legislation, preparing the national strategy for the maritime sector, establishing the National Maritime Center and the Emirates Logistics Integration Council, in addition to supervising strategic initiatives and projects in the areas of digital transformation and sustainability, in a way that enhances the sector’s competitiveness and consolidates the country’s position as a global maritime centre. Engineer Hessa Al Malik expressed her pride in this honor, stressing that it represents an appreciation for the joint national efforts in developing the maritime sector, and an embodiment of the vision of the wise leadership in building an advanced and sustainable maritime sector, and empowering national competencies to contribute to supporting strategic sectors and enhancing the country’s competitiveness at the regional and international levels.
