The Estates Court in Dubai completes settlements worth 5.26 billion dirhams

During the year 2025, the Dubai Estates Court achieved exceptional and qualitative results in managing and settling estate files, as it completed settlements whose total value exceeded 5.26 billion dirhams, and recorded an agreement rate in friendly settlement files of 92.5% (including files registered before 2025), which effectively contributed to accelerating the transfer of rights to their beneficiaries, reactivating assets, and supporting the economic cycle and family stability, demonstrating the high efficiency of the judicial system. Specialized.

The year 2025 witnessed the court registering 2,214 estate files, which varied to include the estates of Muslims, non-Muslims, and minors, both citizens and non-citizens.

In the process of amicable settlements, the court succeeded in resolving disputes in 350 files out of 368 disputed files between heirs or others, achieving a remarkable success rate of 95.11% (completely and partially), while it was not possible to reach a settlement in only 18 files, at a rate of 4.89%, to be referred to the competent judicial processes. These settlements contributed to the release of funds and assets worth more than 5.26 billion dirhams. This ensures the continuity of economic activity and the transfer of funds in accordance with legal procedures.

In terms of speed of completion, the average time period for settlement decreased from 24 days in 2024 to 13.8 days in 2025, achieving an improvement rate of 42%. The accuracy rate in lawsuits and judicial decisions (which amounted to 49,023 decisions and 448 judgments in various partial and total circuits at the initial and appellate levels) also increased from 88.3% to 96.9%, an increase of 8.6 points. Percentage, which reflects the quality of judicial outputs.

On the other hand, the total value of judicial claims presented declined from 32.87 billion dirhams in 2024 to 9.44 billion dirhams in 2025, thanks to the growing role of amicable settlements in resolving disputes.

Financial indicators showed an increase in the amounts supplied by 46% to reach 4.76 billion dirhams, compared to 3.26 billion dirhams, while the amounts disbursed increased from 2.56 billion dirhams to 3.64 billion dirhams, which reflects advanced efficiency in managing funds and recycling receivables.

With regard to digital transformation, the number of applications executed digitally jumped to 49,023 applications compared to 38,610 applications, with the speed of implementation improving from 1.3 days to just one day. Heir registration certificates (legitimate notifications) also increased to 1,467 certificates, friendly settlement agreements included 1,052 properties, the number of vehicles covered increased to 357 vehicles, and commercial licenses to 284. A license, which speeds up the transfer of ownership and supports the stability of family wealth.

The President of the Estates Court in Dubai Courts, Judge Mohammed Jassim Al Shamsi, confirmed that these results highlight the effectiveness of the amicable settlement system in reducing the duration of litigation and preserving family relations, saying: “The Estates Court places at the core of its work achieving complete justice that takes into account the privacy of the estates files and their family and economic dimensions. Initiatives have been adopted that will be announced to serve clients, including banks, banks and real estate companies, and they are being gradually expanded in order to achieve quality services for the heirs and those concerned.”

He added that the court works according to an integrated vision that keeps pace with the directions of the Emirate of Dubai to develop a judicial system that meets the needs of society and the economy, inspired by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him”, which aims to make Dubai a global model in the efficiency of government and justice services. These efforts also come in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Judicial Council, on the necessity of speedy adjudication of the case. Lawsuits related to inheritance and handing over rights to heirs without prejudice to the principles of justice and fairness. His Excellency pointed out that the court is based on a human-centered system that protects their rights through flexible procedures and advanced services.
