Days before leaving office, Starmer visits Kiev and confirms his support for Ukraine


The direction of the outgoing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to Ukraine today, Thursday, on his last visit before leaving office next week.
The Ukrainian president said Volodymyr Zelensky in a joint press conference at Kyiv with Starmer: Britain has always stood by Ukraine, and continues to do so, and we attach great importance to that.
Zelensky presented his British guest with the Medal of Freedom in recognition of his support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Ukrainian state, according to a decree read out at the press conference.
Starmer visited Kiev to confirm the United Kingdom’s firm support for Ukraine in its war against Russia, before leaving office and handing over Monday to Andy Burnham.
/>He said in statements published by his office: Our steadfast support for Ukraine will always remain.
His visit came a few hours after a Russian missile attack targeted the Ukrainian capital, killing two people.

New British Prime Minister

Bornem will assume leadership of the ruling Labor Party tomorrow, Friday, before assuming the prime ministership on Monday after meeting with King Charles III.
Burnem will be the fifth Prime Minister of Britain since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February. 2022.
Starmer announced his resignation on June 22 after he lost the confidence of Labor Party representatives and his popularity declined.

Starmer, along with French President Emmanuel Macron, contributed to leading efforts aimed at establishing a peacekeeping force aimed at deterring Russia in the event of a ceasefire in Ukraine.
On Monday, Britain joined the financial support loan provided by the European Union to Ukraine amounting to 90 billion euros ($103 billion).
