المملكة: The Kingdom condemns Houthi accusations of besieging the Yemeni people and banning maritime navigation
It condemned The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the strongest terms, was addressed by the so-called military spokesman for the Houthi terrorist organization accused of besieging The brotherly Yemeni people and the ban on maritime navigation.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s condemnation in the strongest terms of what was mentioned by the so-called military spokesman of the terrorist Houthi militia, accusing the Kingdom of besieging the brotherly Yemeni people and banning maritime navigation to the Kingdom."
The Ministry said in the statement: "The Kingdom confirms that it has worked over the past years with the legitimate Yemeni government to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people, including continuing development projects, supporting the Yemeni government’s budget, and providing oil derivatives to operate electricity stations. The ports in northern Yemen (Al-Hudaydah, Al-Saleef, and Ras Issa) also received during the first half of 2026 more than 300 ships carrying various foodstuffs, goods, fuel, and building materials, while continuing to work in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2216. Preventing the entry of weapons and ammunition that the Houthi militia is trying by various means to bring into Yemen to prolong its control over the capabilities of the Yemeni people."
Crimes of the Houthi militia
The Ministry recalled the previous widespread attacks committed by the Houthi militia targeting the Yemeni people and the infrastructure in Yemen, including targeting Aden Airport on 12/30/2020 AD and the resulting killing and injury of dozens of martyrs and wounded. It also targeted oil export ports in southern Yemen on 10/21/2022 AD, and what resulted during the truce period. This was followed by targeting to stop the government’s ability to sell oil, which represents approximately 60% of the government’s revenues, which was directly reflected in the payment of salaries to employees, then the confiscation of 4 planes belonging to the Yemeni Airlines company, as the militia seized them at Sana’a airport after transporting them to Yemeni pilgrims from Jeddah Governorate, then it plunged Yemen into the conflict in the region and targeted commercial ships in the Red Sea, and this caused increased suffering for the Yemeni people, prevented them from traveling and exacerbated economic problems, especially in areas controlled by the militia. Al-Houthi, and rejected all initiatives to re-operate flights from Sanaa Airport, the latest of which was the Jordanian initiative.
In addition to the ongoing humanitarian violations carried out by this militia against Yemeni citizens, it is now trying to export the economic problems and popular rejection it faces due to its crimes and violations by fabricating false accusations and directing them at the Kingdom.
Ending the suffering of the Yemeni people
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Kingdom’s position aims to bring peace to Yemen and end the suffering. The brotherly Yemeni people, as the Kingdom has supported international efforts to achieve peace in Yemen over the past years, including the road map that the Yemeni government agreed to while the Houthi militia refrained from announcing its acceptance, and engaged in a conflict in the region to support its ill-fated agenda and goals, which doubled the suffering of Yemeni citizens in areas under its control.
The ministry added in the statement: "The Kingdom calls on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities towards implementing the relevant Security Council resolutions, most notably Resolution 2216 regarding Yemen and Resolution 2722 regarding the rights and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, and affirms at the same time that it will take all necessary measures to protect its ships in accordance with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Kingdom continues to support the brotherly Yemeni people and their legitimate government.
