Gold and dollar prices rise near the highest level in a week

Capitals, July 21, WAM: Gold prices rose during Tuesday’s trading, supported by a decline in oil prices.

Gold rose in spot transactions by 0.5% to $4,023.56 per ounce by 0146 GMT, while US gold futures for August delivery rose by 0.3% to $4,028.

In other precious metals, silver rose 0.9% to $56.93 per ounce, while platinum fell 0.2% to $1,591.22, and palladium rose 0.3% to $1,256.68.

In the currency market, the dollar hovered near its highest level in a week, as it settled against the yen at 162.50 yen, while the euro recorded $1.1415, and the British pound reached $1.3434. The dollar index also stabilized at 100.96, near its highest level since July 15.

On the other hand, the New Zealand dollar rose 0.4% to $0.5860, recording its highest level since early June, while the Australian dollar rose to $0.7001.
