Kuwait summons the Iranian ambassador and hands him a note of protest against the targeting of the Kuwaiti tanker “Kayfan” while it was crossing the Strait of Hormuz.

Today, Tuesday, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by Deputy Foreign Minister, Ambassador Hamad Suleiman Al-Mashaan, summoned the Iranian Ambassador to Kuwait, Ambassador Muhammad Totonji, where he was handed a note of protest against Iran’s targeting of the Kuwaiti tanker “Kaifan,” yesterday evening, Monday, while it was crossing the Strait of Hormuz, which resulted in the injury of a number of its crew members.
The Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister stressed that this blatant attack comes in light of the escalation of the sinful aggression launched by Iran against the State of Kuwait since February 28, 2026, including inflammatory and provocative statements issued by the Iranian side, and constitutes a blatant violation of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and interests of the State of Kuwait, a threat to the security and freedom of international navigation, and a violation of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and Security Council Resolution No. 2817 of 2026.
Al-Mishaan renewed Kuwait’s demand that Iran immediately stop its illegal attacks, stressing that the State of Kuwait reserves its right to take the necessary measures, and holding Iran fully responsible for this attack and its continued aggression against the State of Kuwait.
