Gold rises to its highest level in two weeks and other precious metals rise

The price of gold rose today to its highest level in nearly two weeks, supported by purchasing operations, at a time when investors are awaiting the Federal Reserve (US Central Bank) meeting next week in search of indicators regarding interest rate expectations.

The price of gold in spot transactions rose 0.9 percent to $4,113.73 per ounce, after recording its highest level since July 10.

US gold futures for August delivery jumped 1.1 percent to $4,119.1.

As for other precious metals, the price of silver in spot transactions rose 1.8 percent to $59.82 per ounce, the price of platinum rose 1.6 percent to $1,655.61, and the price of palladium increased 1.6 percent to $1,302.25.
