The UAE and India hold the seventh session of the Joint Consular Committee in New Delhi

The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of India held the seventh session of the Joint Consular Committee in New Delhi, as part of their joint efforts to enhance cooperation in the consular field and improve the services provided to the citizens of the two friendly countries. The UAE delegation was headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Omar Obaid Al-Hassan Al Shamsi, while the delegation of the Republic of India was headed by the Undersecretary of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Consular Affairs, Passports, Visas and Affairs of Indians Abroad, Sripriya Ranganathan.

At the beginning of the meeting, Omar Obaid Al-Hussan Al Shamsi conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and His Highness’s wishes for the success of the meeting’s work, and continued progress and prosperity for the Republic of India and its friendly people.

He also explained that the UAE and India are linked by a well-established and comprehensive strategic partnership, which over the past years has witnessed remarkable development in various political, economic, technological, educational and cultural fields, adding that the high-level visits exchanged between the two countries, in addition to the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, have contributed to enhancing the prospects for joint cooperation and achieving development and prosperity for the two countries, and that the human ties between the two peoples will remain one of the main pillars of bilateral relations, as the Indian community is an integral part of the development process in the UAE, while the number of citizens of the country is increasing. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the progress achieved since the previous session of the Joint Consular Committee, which was hosted by Abu Dhabi, and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in a number of consular fields, including developing consular services, exchanging experiences and learning about best relevant practices, benefiting from modern technologies and supporting digital transformation efforts, especially in the field of verifying academic qualifications.

The two sides also affirmed their commitment to continuing coordination, communication, and joint work to implement the outcomes of the committee’s work, in a way that enhances bilateral cooperation in the consular field, keeps pace with the aspirations of the citizens of both countries, and enhances the quality of consular services provided to them.
