Why do some women resort to slimming injections?

A recent study found an association between hormonal contraceptive use in women and a higher likelihood of later resorting to injectable weight-loss medications, such as Ozempic and Wigovi, to deal with weight gain or difficulty losing fat.

According to the Daily Mail, researchers from Denmark analyzed health data for about 250,000 women between the ages of 12 and 49, with the aim of studying the relationship between the use of various contraceptive methods and starting treatments based on semaglutide, which is the active ingredient in a number of the most popular modern slimming injections.

The results showed that women who used hormonal contraceptives were more likely to start treatment with weight loss injections compared to non-users, while the highest rates of use were recorded among women who had tried more than one type of contraceptive method during their lives.

The researchers found that users of combined pills, mini-pills, and hormonal IUDs showed a higher likelihood of starting semaglutide, and the same percentage appeared among women who switched between different types of contraceptive methods. (Erm News)
