The agreement to develop the ports of Rugailat and Dibba strengthens Fujairah’s position as a global center for trade and services

Officials in the Emirate of Fujairah confirmed that the agreement signed between the Fujairah Ports Authority and DP World to establish two new terminals on the Arabian Sea represents a strategic step that enhances the logistical infrastructure, raises the emirate’s competitiveness, and supports the goals of sustainable economic development in the UAE.
Director of the Emiri Diwan in Fujairah, Mohammed Saeed Al Dhanhani, said that the project to develop the ports of Rugailat and Dibba, within the framework of the strategic partnership between the Fujairah Ports Authority and DP World, represents a strategic shift in the economic development process of the Emirate of Fujairah, and embodies the insightful vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, in consolidating the emirate’s position as a global center for trade, maritime and logistical services, and a strategic gateway linking global markets between the East and the East. and the West, based on its exceptional geographical location and growing economic potential.
Al-Dhanhani added that this project is not limited to developing port infrastructure, but rather establishes a new phase of sustainable economic growth and enhances the pivotal role of the Emirate of Fujairah in the global trade system, benefiting from its unique strategic location on the Arabian Sea and its direct connection to the most important international shipping lines, making it a major pillar for supporting global supply chains and enhancing the security and sustainability of international trade movement.
He said that the development impact of this project will extend to various economic sectors, by stimulating qualitative investments, expanding private sector opportunities, and supporting growth in the industrial, tourism and service sectors, thus enhancing the attractiveness of the Emirate of Fujairah as a global destination for investment and business. This comes as an extension of the solid position it has established over the past decades as one of the most prominent maritime and logistics centers in the world, and a global center for supplying ships with fuel and specialized marine services.
He added: This strategic partnership with DP World represents a qualitative shift that will contribute to raising the operational efficiency of ports, enhancing their competitiveness, and attracting value-added strategic investments, supporting the goals of economic diversification, enhancing Fujairah’s contribution to the national economy, and consolidating its pioneering model of sustainable development.
Director of the Department of Industry and Economy in Fujairah, Engineer Mohammed Obaid bin Majid, confirmed that the agreement between the Fujairah Ports Authority and DP World Group constitutes a new pillar for strengthening the economic environment in the emirate, as it provides an advanced logistical infrastructure that supports the growth of the industrial sector and raises the efficiency of trade movement and supply chains.
He explained that the integration of ports with the economic system in Fujairah will enhance the ability of factories and companies to access regional and global markets more efficiently, which will be reflected in increasing industrial investments, attracting quality projects with added value, and consolidating the emirate’s position as an economic and industrial center with advanced competitive capabilities in accordance with the goals of sustainable development in the UAE.
Director General of the Fujairah Free Zone Authority, Sharif Habib Al-Awadhi, said that the agreement represents a pivotal step in strengthening the economic and logistical system of the emirate, and consolidates Fujairah’s position as a major gateway for trade and investment at the regional and international levels.
He added that the project will contribute to increasing the emirate’s attractiveness for industrial and logistical investments, and will provide a more integrated business environment between ports and free zones, supporting the growth of existing companies, attracting new qualitative investments, and enhancing Fujairah’s competitiveness as an advanced economic center within the global trade system.
He stressed that the integration between the port and the free zone will create promising opportunities for expansion of supply chains and value-added services, in line with the vision of the wise leadership to achieve sustainable economic development and enhance the UAE’s position as a global center for trade and logistics services.
Director General of Fujairah International Airport, Captain Ismail Mohammed Al Balushi, said that the agreement is a strategic step to strengthen the transportation and logistics system in the Emirate of Fujairah, and is in line with the vision of the country’s wise leadership aimed at developing advanced infrastructure and enhancing the country’s competitiveness in the fields of trade and logistics services.
He added that the agreement will contribute to raising the efficiency of supply chains, opening new horizons for attracting investments, and promoting growth in the transportation and logistics sectors, in a way that supports the position of the Emirate of Fujairah as a leading economic and logistics center at the level of the country and the region, benefiting from its strategic location and advanced infrastructure.
Director General of the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sultan Jamil Al-Hindassi, confirmed that this strategic project represents a qualitative leap in the economic development process of the Emirate of Fujairah, and establishes an integrated system of trade and logistics services that enhances the emirate’s position as a major economic gateway to the state.
He explained that the project will contribute to raising the competitiveness of the business environment, attracting qualitative investments, and providing new opportunities for the private sector, in a way that supports the goals of sustainable economic development and enhances the regional and global presence of Fujairah as a pivotal center for trade and investment.
He added that the project enhances the flexibility and sustainability of supply chains by providing more efficient and diverse logistical options, which contributes to ensuring the smooth flow of trade movement, raising the efficiency of linking local, regional and global markets, and enhancing the state’s ability in international transport and trade movement.
The Director General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, Engineer Ali Qasim, confirmed that the agreement between the Fujairah Ports Authority and DP World Group contributes to enhancing the economic value of the transport sector and associated logistics services in the emirate, by developing a more efficient export system and linking it to global trade networks.
He added that the project provides advanced logistical solutions that keep pace with the rapid growth in supply chains, which enhances the ability of companies operating in the country to expand in foreign markets, and consolidates the emirate’s position as a regional center for global trade. This comes in line with the country’s vision of diversifying the economy and promoting sustainable industrial and economic development.
