Dubai Municipality opens an integrated shelter for pets in Warsan and launches a digital platform to facilitate the adoption process

Dubai Municipality announced the opening of a new, integrated shelter for pets within the Bird and Pet Market in the Warsan area, in order to be a qualitative addition that enhances the system of veterinary services in the emirate, and reflects the municipality’s continued commitment to promoting the values ​​of compassion and the principles and concepts of animal welfare, and consolidating these practices as part of the community culture that supports the cultural and humanitarian scene that characterizes Dubai society.

The Animal Welfare Shelter Project comes within Dubai Municipality’s ongoing efforts to provide a safe and humane environment for stray animals, promote a culture of responsible adoption, and reduce the number of stray animals, by providing integrated services concerned with caring for animals in accordance with international health practices and standards, and rehabilitating them in preparation for finding foster families for them within an appropriate home environment that guarantees them a safe life and safe and healthy growth.

The project integrates with the goals of the Steering Committee to preserve the civilized appearance of the Emirate of Dubai, to enhance the urban landscape of Dubai, and to adopt the concepts of civilized behavior as an integrated system linked to the quality of life, the experience of residents and visitors, and daily behaviors in the city, in addition to improving the cultural and humanitarian aspects, the values ​​of mercy and kindness to animals in the emirate, and promoting sustainable cultural practices that make Dubai the most attractive, civilized and sophisticated city in the world.

Within the framework of supporting the project’s paths, Dubai Municipality concluded a memorandum of cooperation with the “Vets Fewer Pets Veterinary Clinic” and “Phoenix Veterinary Clinic” to ensure the health and well-being of animals, and to establish a pioneering humane model for animal care that combines the best scientific practices, digital innovation, and the values ​​of compassion rooted in Emirati heritage and Islamic teachings.

The partnerships aim to establish a framework for cooperation in the field of treating stray and stray pets that suffer from serious injuries or diseases, in order to stabilize their health condition and rehabilitate them, in addition to applying best practices in the field of humane management and care of community animals, as well as launching community awareness programs on the concept of responsible ownership of pets and methods of caring for them.

The areas of cooperation are limited to several items, including managing the presence of animals in society through implementing humane and sustainable initiatives, such as: Surgical sterilization programs for stray cats, and treatment and care programs for stray and stray pets (dogs and cats).

It also includes implementing community awareness, education and communication programs related to animal care and responsible community practices, and exchanging experiences with government agencies, academic institutions, veterinary specialists, the business sector and community organizations. Organizing training programmes, workshops and knowledge exchange initiatives targeting stakeholders and volunteers.

In conjunction with the opening of the shelter, Dubai Municipality announced a website dedicated to facilitating the process of adopting pets, as it allows customers to review the available animals and learn about their health and behavioral status, which contributes to choosing the adoption decision in an easy and convenient way.

Integrated facilities with modern standards.

The shelter includes an integrated set of modern facilities designed in accordance with the best international practices in animal care, including a customer happiness center, a hall dedicated to examining the pet before adoption, and display rooms that allow customers to choose the family’s “new friend” in an interactive way, in addition to an integrated veterinary clinic, and a surgical operating room equipped with the latest veterinary technology.

The shelter also contains a pet care and cleaning unit (grooming), a point for receiving stray animals and rehabilitating them according to scientific and humane principles, and a center for returning lost animals to their owners after verifying their data, which contributes to strengthening the management of stray and stray animals.

Dr. Naseem Mohammed Rafie, Acting Executive Director of the Environment, Health and Safety Foundation in Dubai Municipality, confirmed that the new pet shelter represents a supportive step in the development of the public health system and veterinary services sponsored by Dubai Municipality, which is keen to be more sustainable, efficient and proactive, and provide an advanced quality of life.

Dubai Municipality adopts a scientific and humane approach in dealing with stray and stray pets, by providing basic care for the cases that are collected, in addition to implementing the Trap – Neuter – Return program, and sometimes the Trap – Neuter – Vaccinate – Return program, which includes catching, sterilizing, and vaccinating cats, then returning them to their original locations, if there is no danger to them or individuals.
