Netanyahu is in Washington to meet Trump for the first time since the start of the Iran war

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in Washington, where he will meet Tuesday with US President Donald Trump at the White House, for the first time since the start of the war that their two countries launched together against Iran, which was punctuated by tensions in their relationship.
It is expected that the war with Iran will dominate the agenda of the meeting, at a time when Washington confirms that it wants to give the negotiating track with the Islamic Republic a chance.
This will be the eighth meeting between Netanyahu and Trump since the latter returned to the White House last year for a second term.
Before leaving Israel on Monday, Netanyahu said that his meeting with Trump was “a great honor, but also a great responsibility.”
He added, “We will discuss all the issues on the agenda, most notably Iran. Naturally, our goal is to maintain our security, as well as expand the circle of peace around us.”
The meeting, during which the two allies will try to present a united front, is also expected to address the implementation of the framework agreement sponsored by the United States and signed by Israel and Lebanon last month, the implementation process of which is still facing difficulties on the ground.
The talks will address the situation in the Gaza Strip, in light of the faltering diplomatic efforts aimed at launching the reconstruction process of the destroyed Strip.
