Specific strikes in coordination with the US Central Command against militias in Iraq

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced that its armed forces, in coordination with the US Central Command, launched specific specific strikes at dawn today against targets belonging to pro-Iranian militias in Iraq linked to the attacks on petroleum installations in the Eastern and Riyadh regions.

Major General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Defence, explained that the strikes came in response to the attacks launched from Iraqi territory and carried out by terrorist militias loyal to Iran, and within the framework of the Kingdom’s right to self-defense guaranteed by international law in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.

The Saudi News Agency (SPA) quoted Al-Maliki as confirming: “The Kingdom does not seek escalation, but it will respond to any aggression it is exposed to.”
