"Emirates Library Association" Looking to enhance cooperation with "Jordan National Library"

Sharjah, 30 July / WAM / The Emirates Library and Information Association discussed with the National Library Department in Jordan ways to enhance cooperation and exchange of experiences between institutions concerned with libraries and information in a way that contributes to developing library and information work, consolidating the concepts of innovation, social responsibility and sustainability, and enhancing Arab integration in the fields of preserving knowledge and preserving documentary heritage.

This came during a meeting between a delegation from the Emirates Library and Information Association, headed by Fahd Al-Maamari, Chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors, with Firas Al-Daraba’a, Director General of the National Library Department in Jordan, during his visit to Jordan, which comes within the framework of strengthening Arab cooperation in the fields of libraries and information.

The delegation was briefed on the most important tasks of the National Library Department and its role in preserving the national memory and preserving the Jordanian documentary heritage, in addition to its services in the fields of legal deposit, paper and digital archiving, and making knowledge sources available to researchers and interested parties, as well as its efforts to develop its services in keeping with digital transformation and best professional practices.

The delegation also listened to a presentation on the most prominent projects and programs implemented by the National Library Department in the areas of document preservation, enhancing access to knowledge, and spreading awareness of the importance of documentary heritage, in addition to its efforts in building partnerships with national, Arab and international institutions.

Fahd Al-Maamari stressed that the visit came within the framework of the association’s keenness to expand the horizons of cooperation with specialized Arab institutions in a way that enhances the exchange of experiences and knowledge, supports the development of the library and information sector, and keeps pace with the rapid changes in the fields of knowledge management and digital transformation.

He pointed out that strengthening institutional partnerships contributes to exchanging best practices and launching specific initiatives that serve workers in the library and information sector and supports efforts to preserve and preserve documentary heritage in a way that enhances the presence of Arab institutions in the knowledge and cultural scene.
