The launch of the activities of the first edition of "Al Dhaid Honey Festival"

Al Dhaid, December 3 / WAM / The activities of the first edition of the Al Dhaid Honey Festival, which continues until December 7, began today at Expo Center Al Dhaid, with the participation of more than 70 exhibitors.

The festival includes competitions, entertainment events, and opportunities to taste and buy the finest types of honey.

The opening ceremony of the festival, organized by the Sharjah Chamber, was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Farmers Club, and His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with a number of members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, and His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Amin. Al-Awadhi, Director General of the Chamber, Abdul Aziz Al-Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for the Communications and Business Sector, Mohammed Musabah Al-Tunaiji, General Coordinator of the Festival and Director of the Expo Center Al Dhaid, and a number of officials from Room and Expo.

Al Owais said that the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry seeks, by organizing a group of annual trade exhibitions, to contribute to achieving sustainable development and encourage investment in several sectors, including the agriculture and beekeeping sector, to create new job opportunities and develop local industries to achieve more economic and social growth.

He added that the festival represents an ideal opportunity for local producers of this commodity to improve the quality of their production, promote Emirati honey, highlight its quality and features, open new markets for its export, educate consumers about the types of honey and encourage them to support the national product, to attract more investments and highlight the investment opportunities available in this promising sector.

He added that the Chamber seeks to establish the festival as a prominent economic and heritage event that contributes to supporting beekeepers and encouraging local production of honey to enhance the emirate’s position as a regional center for honey production and trade, within the framework of Sharjah’s comprehensive vision to achieve sustainable economic development, which pays special attention to the development of promising economic sectors, including The agricultural sector, beekeeping and honey production.

For his part, Mohammed Musabah Al Tunaiji said that the festival contributes to developing the local economy and introducing aspects of the ancient Emirati heritage related to beekeeping and honey production, and to enhancing communication between members of society, and provides them with an opportunity to learn about types of honey and methods of producing them and adopt healthy lifestyles through honey consumption. natural honey and spreading awareness of its nutritional benefits, pointing out that the competitions organized by the festival encourage beekeepers to adopt the production of local honey that competes in the markets with its high quality, in addition to benefiting from workshops and training courses to introduce Providing beekeepers with the latest methods and technologies in the field of beekeeping and honey production and providing a platform to market their products and communicate with merchants and consumers.

The festival includes a group of competitions and valuable financial prizes that aim to encourage beekeepers to excel and be creative in producing the finest types of honey, such as the Best Sidr Honey Competition, the Best Wax Comb Competition, the Best Summer Honey Competition, and the Best Crystallized Honey Competition.

To evaluate the quality of honey in competitions, liquid honey and wax samples will be examined according to several tests, including moisture, sucrose, glucose, fructose, and hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), and valuable financial prizes will be awarded to the winners within five places for each competition.

The festival includes a honey market that receives visitors daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., enabling them to purchase the finest types of honey over a period of five days. It also includes a number of various activities such as workshops and awareness lectures that aim to spread culture and knowledge in the field of beekeeping and honey production.
