Tsunami warning: A violent earthquake strikes off the coast of California

A violent 7-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the US state of California on Thursday, prompting authorities to issue a warning about the risk of causing a tsunami, according to officials.
The US Geological Survey said that the epicenter of the 7-magnitude earthquake was located at a depth of only 10 kilometers above sea level, and 100 kilometers from the coastal city of Ferndale.
