Sales outlets offer locally produced goods on the occasion of Union Day

Yesterday, outlets in the country began offering dozens of goods and products made in the Emirates through its various branches, as part of a campaign with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology that extends until December 31, aiming to promote locally made products on the occasion of the country’s 53rd Union Day.
Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry for the Industrial Accelerators Sector in the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Osama Fadl, told “Emirates Today” on the sidelines of a press conference in cooperation with the “Lulu Retail Group” to announce the initiative, that the initiative includes allocating entire shelves to display products made in the UAE. Throughout December, he explained that the campaign begins with 53 products weekly, in addition to offering discounts and offers on national products, in addition to giving consumers points on loyalty cards.
He added that the Ministry aims to expand the scope of the initiative to include other sales outlets and associations in the country, in addition to expanding it to include various emirates, noting that the campaign was launched to coincide with Union Day, but the Ministry aims to continue it for longer periods after it witnesses an evaluation and learns about its positives and negatives.
Fadl continued that the campaign aims to raise the level of awareness among consumers about the quality and competitiveness of national products, and encourage consumers, both citizens and residents, to buy these products and make them their first choice, thus encouraging more national companies to join the initiative, in order to support the growth of national industries and enhance their competitiveness. Promoting the national product at the regional and international levels.
He explained that the campaign consists of two phases, where the first begins with adding the manufacturers approved by the Lulu Retail Group, to participate in the campaign under the slogan “Made in the Emirates” to promote locally manufactured products, while the second phase includes supporting local manufacturers and suppliers approved by the group, to obtain a mark. “Made in the UAE,” according to the Ministry’s requirements.
A tour by Emirates Today of sales outlets showed that the goods included in the campaign include food and non-food products, such as water, dairy, flour and sugar, in addition to juices, dates and tea, as well as paper products, detergents, washing powders and aluminum foil.
In turn, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Omar Al Suwaidi, said that a cooperation agreement had been signed with the “Lulu Retail Group”, with the aim of promoting Emirati products and encouraging manufacturers to obtain the “Made in the Emirates” label issued by the Ministry, as the agreement is in line with the efforts of the “Made in the Emirates” initiative. “Make in the Emirates” supports the growth of the industrial sector in the country and the sustainability of supply chains by providing capabilities, benefits and incentives to industrial companies in the country, and the “National Content Program” and motivating suppliers to the Lulu Retail Group to join the program.
He added that the agreement comes within the framework of the Ministry’s efforts to enhance cooperation with leading companies in the country, and as part of its efforts to create an attractive business environment for local and international investors and entrepreneurs, and to support companies that were established in the UAE and have witnessed growth as a result of the attractive economic environment.
2000 products
Executive Director of Lulu Retail Group, Saifi Rupawala, said that the goods offered by the group in its sales outlets in various emirates of the country amount to 2,000 products, and they will be given priority in displaying on the shelves and offering discounts on them, to encourage more consumers to buy them. Pointing out that consumers see these goods daily in Lulu outlets.
He revealed that Lulu exports some products made in the UAE outside the country, especially to the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, pointing to the group’s desire to provide support to local companies and local producers in the country to increase their sales and export their products abroad.
. The campaign continues until the 31st of this month… and aims to raise awareness of the quality and competitiveness of the national product.
