Strengthening development cooperation with the African continent is an Emirati priority

Yesterday, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, received the President of the Republic of Senegal, Basserou Dumay Faye, who is on a working visit to the UAE that will last several days.

During the meeting that took place at Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi, His Highness welcomed the Senegalese President, who congratulated His Highness on the occasion of the 53rd Union Day of the UAE, expressing his wishes for the UAE and its people for continued progress and prosperity, and praised the distinguished relations between the two countries and their mutual keenness to develop them for the benefit of their peoples.

His Highness and President Basserou Dumay Fay discussed Emirati-Senegalese relations and ways to expand cooperation horizons in all fields, especially investment, economic, trade, development and other vital aspects, in a way that serves the interests of the two countries and their vision towards achieving development and prosperity for their people.

The two sides also discussed a number of regional and international issues of common concern, and exchanged views on them. His Highness the President stressed that strengthening cooperation in development fields with countries of the African continent, including Senegal, represents a priority for the UAE, based on the country’s established approach to building partnerships. Effective development achieves everyone’s interest in progress and prosperity.

For his part, the Senegalese President expressed his happiness with his first visit to the UAE since assuming the presidency in his country, stressing his keenness to continue working to advance cooperation between his country and the UAE, praising its inspiring development experience.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, the Minister of Investment, Mohammed Hassan Al Suwaidi, Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, and the UAE Ambassador to Senegal, Saeed Hamdan Al Naqbi. It was also attended by the delegation accompanying the guest president, which included a number of Ministers and senior officials in Senegal.
