7 practical solutions…the “education” recipe to enable working families to follow their children in distance learning

The Ministry of Education has identified seven practical solutions to enable working families to follow up and care for their children during distance learning, within a realistic vision that takes into account the circumstances of these families and ensures continuity of learning without disturbing the family and professional balance.
The seven solutions
The Ministry stated through the parents’ guide for distance learning for the third semester of the academic year 2025-2026, which Emirates Today reviewed, that the seven solutions include “understanding the schedule and learning model, organizing a fixed daily routine, investing the morning period for review, prior coordination with the school, distributing responsibilities within the family, knowing support times and means of communication, and benefiting from flexible arrangements (recorded classes and reviewing lessons later).”
Educational style
The Ministry stressed the importance of working families’ awareness of what the distance learning model is, understanding this educational style, and carefully reviewing the daily school schedule, including virtual class dates, assignment submissions, and test and evaluation times, as an essential step for organizing time and avoiding any confusion in following up with children.
Direct supervision
Through the guide, the Ministry recommended establishing a regular daily routine that suits the nature of parents’ work, which contributes to reducing chaos inside the home and compensating for the absence of direct supervision during work periods, calling for taking advantage of the morning period, if possible, to review lessons or tasks with the children before the start of the work day, in a way that enhances their readiness and prepares them to continue their school day with confidence.
Advance coordination
She called for prior coordination with schools, by inquiring about the possibility of reviewing activities and tasks ahead of time, which helps families plan in advance and organize their children’s achievement, in addition to the importance of distributing follow-up responsibilities within the family among its members, which reflects an integrated approach in supporting the home educational process.
Support times
She stressed the need to know the available support times and means of communication with teachers and school administrations, to ensure rapid response when needed, indicating the possibility of agreeing on flexible arrangements that take into account the circumstances of working families, such as making registered classes available, reviewing educational content after working hours, and communicating with teachers at specific and agreed-upon times.
