المملكة: Promoting a culture of service.. Imam Turki Reserve celebrates 56 thousand volunteer hours

On the occasion of International Volunteer Day, which falls on December 5th of each year, the Royal Commission for the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve celebrated the ongoing and increasing volunteer efforts in the reserve, which is considered one of the most prominent natural reserves in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The authority stated that in 2024 the reserve witnessed a noticeable increase in the number of volunteers compared to previous years, as 1,145 volunteers were registered this year.
The total volunteer hours provided by these volunteers amounted to 5,560 hours, which reflects the commitment of the local community and those interested in participating in efforts to preserve and protect the environment.
2,827 volunteers
Since its launch, the Royal Commission for the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve has recorded remarkable progress in the field of volunteer work, and the total number of volunteers since the beginning of the Commission until today has reached 2,827 volunteers, who have provided 56,140 volunteer hours in various activities and initiatives that included protecting wildlife, increasing vegetation cover, and organizing environmental events. And awareness.
International Volunteer Day is a global opportunity to highlight the role of volunteers in supporting sustainable development and strengthening communities through volunteer work.
The slogan for the year 2024 is “Diverse volunteering strengthens communities,” and volunteers contribute to creating a culture of service that strengthens their communities, bridges the gap between generations, and supports sustainable development.
Field work teams
The reserve renewed its invitation to those interested to join various fields of volunteering, such as training and development, enhancing environmental awareness, and participating in economic and social development work.

The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve is the second largest royal reserve in the Kingdom, extending over an area of 91,500 km², and is full of stunning nature and unique biodiversity that includes about 162 species of fungal organisms.
Among them are rare creatures such as the Reem gazelle, the clear oryx, the red-necked ostrich, the Arabian wolf, foxes, cats and hares, in addition to types of birds such as the Asian bustard and the goblins, and many types of invertebrates and reptiles.
The reserve also includes more than 179 plant species, such as acacia, wild sidr, and artefact trees.
