“A historic day.” What did Macron say after the meeting with Trump and Zelensky?

French President Emmanuel Macron, after bringing together his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky and US President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday at the Elysee Palace, affirmed “continuing joint work for peace and security.”
Macron wrote on the “X” platform: “The United States, Ukraine and France, together on this historic day, we come together for Notre Dame.”
He added, “We have many challenges to face together,” referring to his relationship with Trump, who returns to the White House next January.

In turn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he held a “good and fruitful meeting” on Saturday with Donald Trump and the French President.
“I had a good and fruitful tripartite meeting with President Donald Trump and President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace,” Zelensky said on social media, adding, “We all want this war to end as soon as possible and in a fair way.”
He thanked Macron for organizing this meeting, pointing out that “President Trump is firm as usual. I thank him.” Zelensky explained that he agreed with Macron and Trump “to continue working together and staying in touch.”
