Did Cillian Murphy return to play the character “Jim” in the movie “28 Years Later”?

It is clear that fans of horror films and “zombie” films are in for a special movie, which will be released next summer, as the trailer for the movie “28 Years Later” was recently revealed, which promises a lot.

In the third part of the “28 Days Later” franchise, which was released in 2002, Boyle and Garland return to their roles as director and writer, after serving as executive producers on the 2007 sequel to “Juan Carlos Versnadillo,” which was called “28 Weeks Later.”

The film stars newcomers Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, and Ralph Fiennes, who are seen throughout the terrifying trailer fighting zombies.

Although the star of the original film, Cillian Murphy, was reported to be reprising his role as Jim, in addition to serving as an executive producer, he appears absent from the trailer, and is not listed as a cast member in promotional materials.

However, the new trailer includes a particularly disturbing clip of a “zombie,” which some on social media have speculated resembles Oscar winner Cillian Murphy, something Columbia Pictures has not commented on. New cast members include: Erin Keleman and Jack O’Connell.

The first trailer for the film reveals a stunning visual vision, depicting Britain after decades of devastation, as scenes showed survivors on a small island immune to infection, along with glimpses of the outside world, full of danger and surprises that the film holds.

Interestingly, the trailer begins with a return to the popular children’s TV show “Teletubbies,” which premiered in 1997, with several children gathered around an old television set.

The film’s official synopsis reads: “Nearly three decades have passed since the Rage Virus escaped from a bioweapons lab, and now, still in harsh quarantine, some have found ways to exist among the infected.”

According to the summary, one of these groups of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland, through one heavily protected bridge, and when one of the group members leaves the island, on a mission to save his mother, into the heart of the dark mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that lead to… Big transformations, as the film’s slogan is “Time has not healed anything.”

The film is expected to be shown in cinemas on June 20, 2025.

It is noteworthy that Cillian Murphy played the character “Jim”, a postman who wakes up from his coma in an abandoned hospital, and leaves wandering through the streets and crossings, only to realize that the entire city of London is devoid of any life, except for people who have been contaminated by the “virus” and are attacking him.
