For the fourth year.. “Noor Al Riyadh” wins two world titles from “Guinness”

The Noor Riyadh 2024 celebration continued to achieve more achievements with two new Guinness World Records titles for the fourth year in a row, adding to its record of successes.
During the ceremony held at the King Abdulaziz Historical Center to distribute the Guinness World Records titles, the artwork “Higher Power” by international artist Chris Levine achieved a world title from “Guinness” as “the longest distance reached by a laser beam in a laser show.”

The work used a 1-kilowatt beam, which emanated from the top of the Al-Faisaliah Tower at a height of 267 meters, extending in four directions in Riyadh, and carrying an encoded message in Morse code that included the word “peace” in Arabic, an expression of positive change and hope.
The artwork “The Fifth Pyramid” by Saudi artist Rashid Al-Shashi also achieved a world title from Guinness as “the largest illuminated artwork in the shape of a pyramid made of recyclable materials.”

The work is characterized by a huge structure measuring 28 meters high, made of petrochemical shipping platforms and sustainable materials, with a corridor in the middle illuminated in fuchsia, in an artistic embodiment that reflects the transformation of the city of Riyadh and its firm commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Strengthening cultural identity

The Executive Director of the Riyadh Art Program, Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Hazani, explained that achieving two new Guinness World Records titles reflects the global status that the celebration has reached as a platform for art and creativity, saying: “The achievements are evidence of the ability of art to bring about inspiring transformation and enhance cultural identity, as well as Noor Riyadh continues to inspire and unite people through the language of light.”
Noor Al Riyadh Celebration Director, Engineer Nouf Al Munif, confirmed that creativity in this year’s Noor Al Riyadh edition reached unprecedented levels, by achieving two Guinness world titles, embodying the global status that the celebration has reached as the largest celebration of light arts in the world, and demonstrating the exceptional talent and dedication of the artists. And the organizers and curators of this celebration, which strengthens Riyadh’s position as a global cultural capital.

The “Noor Riyadh” celebration will be held in its fourth edition this year under the slogan “Between the Pleiades and the Pleiades”, under the supervision of artistic curators Dr. Effat Abdullah Fadak and Alfredo Cramerotti, where the artistic works and activities of the Community Partnership Program were distributed in three main centers: the King Abdulaziz Historical Center, Jax neighborhood, and Wadi Hanifa.
The celebration witnessed the display of more than 60 artworks created by more than 60 artists from 18 countries, which lit up the skies of Riyadh and contributed to transforming the capital into a vibrant, interactive art exhibition attracting millions of visitors.
It is noteworthy that the achievement raises the total number of Guinness World Records titles achieved by the Noor Riyadh celebration to 16 titles, after 14 titles were recorded in previous years.
