In her first comment after the overthrow of the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Syrian artist Mayada El-Hanawi said: “I, as a Syrian, have gone through a very difficult and dark era that tyrannizes the truth.”
She added during her speech from her ceremony on Friday in the Kingdom of Bahrain: “Like all people, we never knew anything,” hoping that peace would prevail and love would prevail among the people of Syria.
The public circulated a previous statement by Mayada in which she expressed her support for the Assad regime, saying: “I support President Bashar al-Assad, and any Republican who does not like that hits his head against the wall.”
She previously performed the song “Ya Hafez Al-Ahd,” which she sang for the late Syrian President Hafez Al-Assad.
