Yas Island records 38 million visits in 2024

Abu Dhabi, April 29 / WAM / Yas Island achieved exceptionally during the year 2024, recording more than 38 million visits, which represents a noticeable increase of 10% compared to 2023.

This was announced by Miral to develop entertainment destinations and experiences in Abu Dhabi, which is responsible for managing and marketing Yas Island, and supervising the tourist destination management strategies on Saadiyat Island.
Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Al -Zaabi, CEO of Mirl, said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency “WAM” on the sidelines of the activities of the Arab Travel Market 2025, that this number includes visits to all Al -Jazeera facilities such as hotels, entertainment cities, shopping centers, and sports activities, which reflects the diversity and richness of the tourism experience provided.
He pointed out that these exceptional results confirm the commitment of “Miral” to support Abu Dhabi’s vision to become a leading global destination, in line with the emirate’s tourism strategy and its broader aspirations towards achieving sustainable growth and economic diversification.
Mirl CEO revealed that work is currently underway on a group of major expansions on the company’s entertainment destinations.
On the Arab travel market, Al -Zaabi stressed that it has become an important global platform for promoting Emirati tourist destinations, noting that participation in this international event is an ideal opportunity to disclose the achieved results and the participation of the future vision of Mirl, which continues to consolidate Abu Dhabi as a global center for recreational and cultural experiences.
According to a statement issued today, Yas Island hotels achieved its best performance since 2019, and its occupancy rate reached 82% to rise to 90% in August 2024, recording an annual growth of 9% in the rate of hotel occupancy and a 17% increase in the average daily price compared to 2023.
Likewise, Saadiyat Island recorded a growth of 10% in the number of visits to its hotels and cultural experiences compared to the previous year.
The entertainment cities on Yas Island and the “Clayl ™” project witnessed a noticeable increase in the number of visits of 20%, in addition to an increase of 56% in the number of visits from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries compared to the previous year.
International visits to entertainment cities also witnessed a significant growth of 40%, driven by a significant increase from the main markets, including India +44%, China +81%, the United Kingdom +40% and Russia +29%.
Yas Island is witnessing a rapid growth that made it a major destination for events and business conferences, as it provides a unique mix of commercial capabilities and entertainment.
The destination recorded a 17% increase in the number of business activities and conferences in 2024, with an increase of 7% in the reserved hotel nights compared to 2023.
As part of its efforts to push the growth of this vital sector, “Miral” announced the development of the “Metaavires Island” project, in cooperation with “Ed and Enterprises” – the pillar of the digital transformation in the “Ed and” group.
The project aims to take advantage of the technology “Metaavirus” to display the places of commercial activities in addition to the experiences and tourist attractions on Yas Island, in a comprehensive virtual experience.
In turn, Saadiyat Island continues to attract more visits, in addition to increasing the number of registered visits, the destination achieved a high hotel occupancy rate of 74% in 2024, in addition to a 14% increase in the average daily price compared to 2023.
The destination witnessed remarkable growth in the number of visits from the main markets, including 11% growth in the number of visits from the United Kingdom, by 30% of India, and 58% of China, which contributed to enhancing its position in a leading beach, natural and cultural destination.
