المملكة: The Camel Festival promotes environmental sustainability by caring for 1,244 shrubs and palm trees

The ninth edition of the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival, which is held under the slogan “Glory to its people,” witnessed the irrigation and care of 1,244 shrubs and palm trees.
This comes as part of ambitious efforts aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability and highlighting the importance of green spaces in major heritage events.
This step comes as part of the festival’s commitment to supporting environmental goals that are consistent with the Saudi Green Initiative, which aims to increase vegetation cover and combat desertification.

Sustainability with heritage character

The festival’s management was keen to integrate sustainability with the heritage character of the event, and these efforts reflect the Kingdom’s vision of achieving a balance between celebrating cultural heritage and preserving the environment.
Various types of trees and palm trees were carefully selected to be adapted to the desert environment surrounding Al-Sayahid, which enhances the sustainability of the vegetation in the region.

The provision of these green spaces was not just an aesthetic element, but rather came with the aim of educating visitors about the importance of agriculture and preserving the environment in our daily lives, as the palm tree is an ancient cultural symbol linked to the Kingdom’s culture and history.
While planting shrubs comes to enhance the concept of integration between humans and the environment in enhancing the sustainability of natural resources.
This step also embodies the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival’s commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which places the environment at the top of its priorities, through the implementation of ambitious projects aimed at making the Kingdom a global model in the sustainable management of natural resources.

Oasis of security

Today, the ambassadors of Japan, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Serbia, India, Romania and Albania, along with the French mission, visited the Ministry of Interior exhibition (Security Oasis) at the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival, in Al-Sayahid in Al-Rumhiyah, north of the Riyadh region.

The ambassadors and the delegation of the French mission toured the pavilions of the emirates of the regions and security sectors, and learned about the efforts of the Ministry of Interior in maintaining security, its achievements locally and internationally, its most prominent development projects, and the investment of technology, applications of artificial intelligence, and its digital solutions in preserving the environment and its sustainability, and public safety.
