Participating teams flock to Abu Dhabi in preparation for the 2026 World Jiu-Jitsu Championship
ABU DHABI, 30 JULY / WAM / International delegations participating in the 2026 World Jiu-Jitsu Championship have begun arriving in the capital, Abu Dhabi, before the start of the competitions at the Mubadala Arena next Saturday, with the participation of elite male and female players from around the world.
The 2026 World Jiu-Jitsu Championship will be held from August 1 to 9 next, in addition to the Jiu-Jitsu World Cup for the under-14 category, which launches the event on the opening day, and then the fights will continue within the rest of the categories, in a global scene that brings together multiple generations of Jiu-Jitsu players under one roof.
The delegations of the Bahrain, Philippines and Singapore teams were among the first delegations to arrive in Abu Dhabi, while the rest of the teams will continue to arrive successively during the coming hours, amid a state of focus and anticipation as the date of the fights approaches and the countdown to one of the most prominent jiu-jitsu competitions on the international agenda begins.
The teams that have reached the final stage of preparation enter through training exercises that focus on maintaining physical and technical readiness and enhancing mental focus, which helps the players enter the competitions with a balanced rhythm and present their best levels since the first matches.
The participating delegations carry different ambitions, bringing together teams seeking to strengthen their presence on the world stage, champions looking to defend their titles, along with players having their first experience at this level of competition, which adds a special dimension to the tournament, which constitutes a real test of the ability of athletes to deal with multiple styles and schools over an intense period of time.
His Excellency Yousef Abdullah Al-Batran, Member of the Board of Directors of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation and Chairman of the Championship Organizing Committee, welcomed the delegations that arrived in Abu Dhabi, stressing that their presence adds more momentum to the event and reflects the teams’ aspiration to provide strong levels in the competitions.
He explained that the diversity of participating countries and schools gives the competitions great artistic value, as each team competes in the tournament with a different style of preparation and fights, which puts the players before new challenges and imposes on them the ability to adapt and make decisions at the appropriate moment.
He added that the importance of this global gathering is not limited to results and medals, but rather extends to the exchange of experiences it allows between players, coaches and referees, and close access to the latest technical trends and training methods followed by advanced teams.
Al-Batran pointed out that the presence of this elite of athletes in Abu Dhabi provides a rich competitive environment, and gives rising talents the opportunity to follow world champions and learn from their experiences, which contributes to raising the ceiling of ambition and encouraging new generations to continue developing and reaching the highest levels.
