المملكة: The King Abdulaziz Center participates in the Global Forum to Combat Racism
The King Abdulaziz Center for Cultural Communication participated in the Fourth World Forum to Combat Racism and Discrimination, held in Barcelona and organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The Center was represented by the Center’s Deputy Secretary-General, Mr. Ibrahim bin Zayed Al-Asimi, speaking in one of the forum sessions entitled “Civil Society at Work,” where he stressed that combating discrimination and racism and promoting human rights are considered among the basic principles that constitute the cornerstone of building advanced societies and in a way that supports the vision of Saudi Arabia. 2030.
He said that all individuals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia enjoy the same rights and opportunities without discrimination in accordance with the rules and regulations, indicating that human rights enhance human dignity and are necessary to achieve sustainable development.
Spreading human values
Al-Asmi said, in response to inquiries in the forum’s dialogue session regarding strategies that can be used to integrate combating discrimination into societal standards in the long term, that the King Abdulaziz Center for Cultural Communication, as an independent civil society institution concerned with society, has many international partnerships, especially with UNESCO, It works to spread common human values and national values among all groups and segments of society without discrimination, which are the values of centrism, moderation, tolerance, national belonging, and coexistence, and to strengthen the societal fabric.
To achieve this, various means are used, including the Academy of Civilizational Communication, which specializes in training on these common human values, raising awareness of them and instilling them within the behavior and actions of groups and individuals of society without discrimination.
There is a great diversity of beneficiaries of these programs, whether employees of government agencies, the private sector, civil society organizations of both males and females, or family members such as housewives and children.
The Center also implements targeted programs targeting various segments of society to strengthen the societal fabric and raise and develop national sentiment, with support and facilitation from government agencies.
Policy development
It works as a think tank and bridges the relationship to support government agencies concerned with making, implementing and rationalizing decisions, as well as developing relevant policies. This is done through studies and field research on society, its issues, opinions, and priorities of its needs, or through periodic societal indicators built scientifically to measure development in human values and societal performance. .
The Center also uses public opinion polls through the Rai Center to engage the community and to know the opinions of male and female citizens on issues that concern them and the decision maker.
Meetings and workshops
The Center also holds many meetings and workshops between officials in the relevant government agencies, specialists, intellectuals, community institutions and individuals, to discuss various societal issues in a way that allows for periodic recommendations to be made and systems and regulations to be developed.
Including, for example, rules, regulations and decisions related to preserving rights and non-discrimination in the work environment, where the Center, in coordination with the government agency concerned with human resources affairs and (the International Labor Organization) as an external body, holds regular periodic dialogue workshops between the three working parties (government agencies). Results and recommendations
The Center follows up on the management of the dialogues of these workshops, monitors the resulting results and recommendations, and submits them to the concerned authorities to achieve the desired development in the field and environment of work and the rights of workers and employers.
The Center also works with relevant government agencies and bodies to raise awareness in society about rights and combating discrimination, whether through educational curricula or the media, especially new media and its systems that guarantee rights and combat discrimination, or in the work environment. There are also government agencies concerned with following up on reports, addressing violations, and protecting whistleblowers. And preserve their rights.
