"Educational Center" Sharjah celebrates International Arabic Language Day

Sharjah, December 17 / WAM / The Educational Center for the Arabic Language for the Gulf States in Sharjah organized at its headquarters yesterday, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, a celebration on the occasion of International Arabic Language Day, which falls on December 18 of each year, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed. Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

During his speech, His Excellency Dr. Issa Saleh Al Hammadi, Director of the Educational Center for the Arabic Language for the Gulf States, praised, during his speech, the efforts of the wise Gulf leaders in strengthening and protecting the status of the Arabic language, which was embodied in the establishment of the Educational Center for the Arabic Language for the Gulf States in Sharjah, praising the efforts of the UAE and the Emirate of Sharjah in particular. In pioneering initiatives aimed at preserving and advancing the Arabic language.

He said that on this day, we stand before the UAE’s pioneering and distinguished efforts to advance the Arabic language, through a package of qualitative initiatives aimed at preserving the Arabic language, through which the UAE has assumed a prominent position at the forefront of countries within the framework of efforts aimed at restoring the prestige of the Arabic language. And its historical position in the field of science, knowledge and cultural communication.

He stressed that the contributions of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in serving the Arabic language cannot be overlooked, through many institutions that His Highness established to protect it, in addition to the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language project.

Al-Hammadi announced the center’s new publications for this year 2024, which aim to develop international and regional tests for the Arabic language, and determine the level of students in various language skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing, as well as in language sciences such as grammar, morphology, and rhetoric. The goal of these tests is to improve… Teaching and learning in the Arabic language and developing its curricula in line with contemporary developments.

The celebration program included a speech from His Excellency Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman Al Muslim, President of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, during which he stressed the importance of preserving the Arab cultural heritage and developing it in line with contemporary developments. He also stressed the need to enhance cultural awareness of the Arabic language and its role in documenting Arab identity.

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary General of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, stressed the importance of the Arabic language in transmitting science, knowledge and culture, pointing to the Academy’s efforts to preserve the integrity of the language and develop it in various fields, and the Academy’s constant endeavor to support projects that enhance the status of the Arabic language. At the local and international levels.

A video entitled “The Story of the International Day of the Arabic Language” was also presented, prepared by the Educational Center for the Arabic Language for the Gulf States.

The event concluded by honoring the participants in the celebration program and symposium organized by the Center under the title “Arabic Language and Artificial Intelligence: Promoting Innovation while Preserving Cultural Heritage,” through the participation of a number of experts in the Arabic language, heritage and culture, including His Excellency Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman Al-Musallam, His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Safi Al Mosteghanemi, His Excellency Dr. Fawzi Al-Ghazali, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages ​​at Mohammed bin Zayed University for Human Sciences, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Abdul Latif Al-Khatib from King Faisal University, and His Excellency Dr. Hossam El-Din. Samir Abdel-Al from Mohammed bin Zayed University.
