5.49% production growth "Dubai Electricity" of energy in nine months

Dubai, December 17 / WAM / Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s total energy production increased to 45.14 terawatt hours during the first nine months of 2024, an increase of 5.49% compared to the same period last year.
According to a press release issued by the Authority today, the total heat rate (the amount of heat needed to produce a kilowatt-hour) in the summer season reached 7,923 British thermal units/kWh, which is the best result recorded in the Authority’s history, which reflects the Authority’s firm commitment to sustainable operational excellence.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said: “We are committed to keeping pace with the steady increase in demand for electricity and water and the growth of the population and visitors in Dubai, and enhancing strong economic performance and building the best and most active economy in the world, in line with Dubai’s D33 economic agenda, which aims to Doubling Dubai’s economy over the next decade and the “We Are the Emirates 2031” vision.
He added that the Authority’s production capacity amounted to 16,779 gigawatts of electricity, and clean energy represented 17% of the Authority’s total energy production capacity during this period. The Authority is working to increase the percentage of clean energy within the energy mix to diversify energy sources and meet the growing demand.
