North Korea is capable of supplying Russia with ballistic missiles

Jonah Leaf, head of the Conflict Armament Research Organization, said that North Korea proved this year that it is capable of producing ballistic missiles and supplying them to Russia for use against Ukraine within months.
Levin added that he informed the UN Security Council on Wednesday that researchers on the ground examined the remains of 4 North Korean missiles that were found in Ukraine in July and August.
Including a missile with markings indicating it was produced in 2024.
He continued: “This is the first public evidence of the production of missiles in North Korea, then their use in Ukraine within months, not years.”

Briefing to the Security Council

Lev also briefed the Security Council in late June, telling members that the organization he heads had proven “indisputably” that ballistic missile remnants found in Ukraine early this year were those of a missile manufactured in North Korea.
The organisation, based in Britain and founded in 2011, has been documenting and tracking weapons used in conflicts to help governments combat their diversion and proliferation, in Ukraine since 2018.

Criticism of North Korea

Pyongyang denounced criticism by the United States and its allies of North Korean support for Russia in its war on Ukraine, including the deployment of troops, refusing to characterize this support as a “reckless provocation.”

A Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a statement reported by the official North Korean News Agency on Thursday that the announcement issued by 10 countries and the European Union distorts the normal cooperation ties between Pyongyang and Moscow.

Heavy Korean losses

North Korean forces fighting alongside the Russian army to retake the Ukrainian-occupied Kursk region are suffering heavy losses, Ukraine’s domestic intelligence service said on Wednesday.

Ukraine’s domestic intelligence service, the SBU, reported, based on wiretapped phone conversations, that more than 200 injured North Koreans were transferred to a hospital near Moscow within a few days.
