11.2% growth in Chinese direct investment abroad within 11 months

BEIJING, December 20 / WAM / The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced that China’s non-financial foreign direct investment recorded a growth of 11.2 percent on an annual basis to reach 128.63 billion US dollars during the first eleven months of this year.
The China Daily newspaper, citing He Yongqian, spokeswoman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, reported in a press conference that Chinese enterprises’ investments in Belt and Road Initiative countries reached $30.17 billion, an increase of 5.1 percent compared to the same period last year.
The spokeswoman explained that the volume of projects contracted abroad recorded $140.23 billion during the aforementioned period, a growth of 3.4 percent, while the value of new contracts signed increased to $198.79 billion, achieving an increase of 11.9 percent.
She added that the projects implemented in the “Belt and Road” countries amounted to $116.14 billion, recording a growth of 2.5 percent on an annual basis, while the value of new contracts signed in these countries reached $167.95 billion, an increase of 11.8 percent compared to the previous year.
