المملكة: Strategic agreements to enhance water irrigation initiatives in the Kingdom

Today, the National Irrigation Foundation held the second water irrigation meeting, with the participation of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Shaibani, and a number of leaders of civil society associations, donors, and sector experts.
The meeting aimed to empower associations working in the field of water irrigation and enhance the role of the profit sector, to provide innovative and sustainable solutions that meet the needs of the areas most in need.

Water irrigation initiatives in Saudi Arabia

This aims to achieve social development and ensure the sustainability of water resources, and this meeting is considered a pivotal step in advancing the water irrigation sector in the Kingdom.
It also stresses the importance of continuing such meetings, which enhance the quality of projects and deepen their positive impact on society.
The CEO of the National Irrigation Foundation, Engineer Abdul Rahman Al-Rashoud, explained that the meeting reflects the Foundation’s commitment to supporting non-profit organizations specialized in water irrigation.
In addition to developing its projects in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which focuses on improving the quality of life and ensuring the sustainability of natural resources for future generations.

Organizing discussion sessions

The meeting witnessed the organization of discussion sessions and specialized workshops, which addressed the most prominent challenges facing the water irrigation sector, and reviewed best practices to improve the quality and continuity of projects.
Participants also focused on enhancing coordination between NGOs and donors, and encouraging the innovation of solutions that meet the development requirements of the charitable water sector.
In an important step to enhance cooperation, two strategic agreements were signed. The first is with the Miteb bin Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud National Foundation, with the aim of empowering associations working in the field of irrigation and promoting water initiatives in the holy sites.

Achieving sustainability of irrigation projects

This is in addition to developing innovative solutions to ensure easy access of chilled water to the guests of God. The agreement was signed by the Secretary-General of the Foundation, Dr. Salem Al Khazem, while the second agreement was with the Ali bin Abdulaziz Al Dhuwayan Charitable Foundation.
It focuses on preserving natural resources and establishing sustainable irrigation projects according to need, in addition to activating environmental and social initiatives.
The agreement was signed by the Foundation’s Executive Director, Dr. Bandar Al-Qahtani. Participants in the meeting stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation and permanent communication between NGOs and donors.
This is to ensure the sustainability of irrigation projects, and to transform innovative ideas into actual initiatives that contribute to improving the lives of the most needy communities.
