Britain is testing a new weapon to shoot down drones.. Will it work?

Soldiers in Britain have tested a new weapon that uses high-frequency radio waves to shoot down enemy drones.
The radio frequency directed energy weapon is designed to detect, track and destroy a range of threats across land, air and sea at a distance of up to one kilometre.

Shooting down drones

Defense Procurement Minister Maria Eagle said this weapon “could be a pivotal game changer.”
The war in Ukraine and attacks on ships in the Red Sea have shown how low-cost marches can have devastating effects.

Directed energy weapon

The advantage of the weapon is that conventional weapons, such as anti-aircraft missiles, can cost many times the cost of the drones they are trying to shoot down.
While the cost of launching a radio frequency directed energy weapon is only 10 pennies.
High-frequency waves disable or destroy vital electronic components inside targets such as unmanned vehicles, causing them to stall or fall from the sky.
