The UNIFIL Commander and the Prime Minister of Lebanon visit the town of Khiam after the Israeli army withdrew from it

The three officials visited the town of Khiam, from which the Israeli army recently withdrew and the Lebanese army deployed with the support of UNIFIL.

In a statement issued on Monday, UNIFIL strongly urged the acceleration of progress in the withdrawal of the Israeli army from southern Lebanon and the deployment of the Lebanese army there.

It called on all actors to stop the violation Resolution 1701 And refrain from any actions that would jeopardize the cessation of hostilities and the currently fragile stability.

The mission said peacekeepers would continue to monitor and report violations of Resolution 1701, and support a return to a cessation of hostilities in its area of ​​operations.
