7 people were injured in a fire in a nursing home

At least seven residents of a nursing home in the center of Munich, southern Germany, were slightly injured as a result of a fire that broke out on Christmas Eve.
According to a spokesman for the Professional Fire Department, 60 people were evacuated from the building. There is no information yet available about the extent of the material damage or the cause of the fire. Firefighting work is still ongoing.
The spokesman indicated that the roof and bell tower in the building were severely damaged. Some inmates were transferred to another unaffected area within the building, in addition to a nearby building belonging to the Technical University of Munich.
Thick clouds of smoke covered the sky in downtown Munich as a result of the fire.
The spokesman explained that the roof of the historic building was severely damaged, while flames erupted from time to time from the bell tower.
Dozens of firefighting teams rushed to the scene and carried out extinguishing operations using several escalators. Police closed the streets surrounding the area.
