Sharjah Airport celebrates the launch of the first Iraqi Airways flights

Sharjah, December 28 / WAM / Yesterday, Sharjah Airport celebrated the launch of the first Iraqi Airways flights, joining the list of airlines that operate flights to the city of Sharjah, via three weekly flights between Baghdad and Sharjah on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with Boeing B737 aircraft.

The reception for the first flight was attended by His Excellency Ali Salem Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah International Airport Authority, Dr. Tahrir Mutashar Majeed, Director and Accountant of the Dubai Office of Iraqi Airlines, Mohammed Al Dabbagh, Agent of Iraqi Airways in Sharjah, and Khalid Walid Al Mansouri, Director of the External Promotion Department at the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority. , along with a number of officials and managers from both sides.

Al Midfa stressed that the joining of Iraqi Airways contributes to expanding the network of international destinations that connect Sharjah Airport with direct flights to more than 100 destinations, and enhances the airport’s competitive position in attracting visitors, tourists, businessmen and investors, which is reflected in the increase in the total number of passengers through the airport and the growth of freight traffic. Air and cargo handling through new mutual flights between Sharjah and Baghdad.

He stressed the commitment to continue developing the service system in the aviation and travel sector, in line with the strategic plans to raise the total number of passengers to 25 million passengers annually by the end of 2027, and to achieve the highest level of quality, efficiency and diversity by adopting the latest smart digital systems to ensure a safe and pioneering travel experience for all beneficiaries and clients, individuals and companies. .

He said that the Authority places enhancing the tourism and economic status of the emirate at the top of its priorities and is keen to enable mutual economic and trade relations between the UAE and Iraq by facilitating aviation and travel services between the two countries.
