The Local Content and Government Procurement Authority issued an update, adding 122 national products, covering 9 different sectors.
The application of adding products by government agencies will begin on March 1, 2025, while the requirement for a local content certificate will begin on September 1, 2025.

List of new products

The Authority indicated that the new items included the following: 64 products for the building and construction sector, 4 products for the food and agricultural products sector, and 4 products for the hygiene consumables sector.
The products included: 20 products in the chemicals and fertilizers sector, 12 products in the personal equipment and supplies sector, two products in the paper consumer products sector, two products in the stationery and office supplies sector, 11 products in the transportation and logistics services sector, and finally 3 products in the plastic consumer products sector.

Update mandatory list

The Authority’s CEO, Abdul Rahman bin Abdullah Al-Sammari, said that updating the mandatory list for these sectors comes as part of the Authority’s efforts to activate the mechanisms specified by the list of preference for local content, small and medium enterprises, and companies listed on the financial market in business and procurement.
He noted that there are 581 beneficiary factories that have the production capacity to meet government demand, as the volume of government spending reached 6.4 billion riyals.
It is noteworthy that the Authority seeks, within updating the mandatory list, to enhance national products within the Kingdom, and to create new industries and sectors in it to develop local content, as it works to issue and update the list periodically based on new products that can be included in the mandatory list.
