The death of former US President Jimmy Carter

Former US President Jimmy Carter, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, has died at the age of 100, US media reported on Sunday.

The Washington Post and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported, quoting his son, that Carter, who led the country between 1977 and 1981, died on Sunday afternoon at his home in Plains, Georgia.

Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, is the 39th President of the United States, and was elected president in 1976 for one presidential term.
