Industrial output in Korea declined in November

SEOUL, December 30, 2017 – Data today, Monday, showed that industrial output in the Republic of Korea declined last November from the previous month, due to a decline in automobile production despite strong growth in the chip sector.

The Korean Yonhap News Agency reported that industrial production fell by 0.4%, a decline for the third month in a row, according to data collected by the Korean Statistics Authority.

The decrease is due to a decline in automobile production by 5.4% on a monthly basis, while the semiconductor sector recorded an increase of 3.9% on a monthly basis, supported by strong demand abroad.

On an annual basis, gross industrial output fell by 0.3% in November.

Retail sales, a leading indicator of private spending, rose 0.4% from the previous month; To rise after two consecutive months of decline.
