The Secretary-General calls for making 2025 a year in which the world no longer remains in a state of fragmentation

He stressed that in 2025, countries must put the world on a safer path by significantly reducing emissions and supporting the transition towards a renewable future.

He added that he sees hope embodied in activists, young and old, raising their voices for progress, in humanitarian heroes overcoming enormous obstacles to provide support to the most vulnerable people, in developing countries struggling to achieve financial and climate justice, and in world leaders. Guterres said: “There are no guarantees of what 2025 will be like. However, I pledge to stand with everyone who works to create a more peaceful, equal, stable and healthier future for all people.”.
