المملكة: 3 months for Arab countries.. “Passports” clarifies the validity periods of the passport

The General Directorate of Passports confirmed that the minimum validity of a passport is for citizens wishing to travel outside the Kingdom.
She explained that it is not less than (3) months if traveling to Arab countries and (6) months for the rest of the countries.

Saudi passport

She explained that the family registry card and the digital national ID through the “Absher” and “Tawakkalna” platforms do not entitle their holder to travel.
The Passports Authority urged citizens to quickly renew or issue new passports well in advance of travel.
She stressed the importance of protecting their passports from damage or loss, not neglecting them, pawning them, or misusing them, and placing them in safe places.

New electronic services

Two days ago, the General Directorate of Passports launched (4) new electronic services through the Ministry of Interior’s electronic services platform (Absher), as part of the tenth annual Absher Forum 2024.
This came under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior.
The new services included: “passport issuance and renewal services for foster family members, a service for amending the translated name for domestic workers, and a service for amending the translated name for family members of the resident.”

Saudi Passport Services

Director General of Passports, Major General Saleh Al-Murabba’, pointed out that the services come within the developmental steps for electronic transactions.
He stated that it aims to save time and effort, shorten procedures, and improve the quality of passport services.
As well as providing smart solutions and digital transformation to contribute to enhancing the efficiency of services provided to beneficiaries.
Throughout the ages of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia until today, the Saudi passport has emerged, which represents the identity of the citizen outside the Kingdom, and his official means of transportation for traveling between countries, and it has witnessed developments and historical stages that earned it the respect of the entire world.

Stages of development of the Saudi passport

The General Directorate of Passports displayed, in its pavilion at the Ministry of Interior’s exhibition (Security Oasis) at the 9th King Abdulaziz Camel Festival, a historical section of Saudi passport documents.
Its pavilion told the historical stages of the Saudi passport, and the eras it went through, whether in name or form.
During the reign of King Abdulaziz – may God have mercy on him – and before the unification of the kingdom, it was called (the passport of the Kingdom of Hijaz and the Sultanate of Najd and its accessories), and the information of the passport holder was written by hand.
After this stage, a change occurred after the unification of the Kingdom, as “Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” is now written on the cover of the passport in Arabic and English, and the phrase “Passport”, with the two swords and the palm tree at the top of the cover, and its color changes to green.
