The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics stated that 34% of experts confirmed that tourism is one of the most important activities that Egyptians abroad can contribute to, then construction and building came at 14%, clean and sustainable energy at 12%, then transportation and storage at 12%.

This came in a study entitled “A proposed strategy to activate the role of Egyptians abroad in supporting the comprehensive forces of the state.” It was issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics in the 108th issue of the semi-annual magazine (Population – Research and Studies).

The agency explained that 80% of the experts reported that the migration of Egyptians abroad is beneficial to them, while 20% said that They reported that their presence abroad is of no use or benefit to the country.

He added that 40% of the experts confirmed that financial transfers from Egyptians abroad are It is beneficial to the state when it is used to start non-agricultural projects in the field of industry or services, while 30% confirmed that it is useful when it is used to pay the costs of education and training for family members. He added that the study attributed this to paying the costs of education and training for individuals. family; To improve the educational characteristics of the migrant’s family members, which in turn will reflect on the state indirectly, indicating that 16% of the experts believe that financial remittances are useful when the migrant’s family uses them to meet their needs for food, clothing, and goods. 

He pointed out that this will move the wheel of supply and demand in the Egyptian market, stressing that 10% believe that remittances are also useful when used to buy a house or new housing for family members. The immigrant.

He confirmed that the number of Egyptians emigrating abroad reached 11.08 million immigrants in 2022 according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ estimates, pointing out that the National Survey of International Migration in 2013 is one of the most prominent surveys that monitored the reasons for Egyptians’ migration abroad. 

He added that according to the study, 87% of immigrants immigrated for economic reasons, and 10% immigrated for social reasons (women For marriage to males residing abroad) and 3% for other reasons.

The Central Bureau of Statistics stated that one of the most important reasons driving Egyptians’ migration abroad are economic reasons, namely improving the standard of living by 34%, and that income in Egypt is insufficient by 25%. And a decrease in available employment opportunities by 12%.

He added that remittances from Egyptians abroad represent one of the important sources of foreign exchange, as Central Bank data indicate that the volume of financial transfers amounted to 22.1 billion dollars, representing 7.07% of the GDP in the year (2022 – 2023). 

He explained that to determine the importance of the role of Egyptians abroad in supporting the comprehensive forces of the state and the areas and mechanisms for benefiting from this role, the study prepared a questionnaire with the participation of 50 experts (52% Males – 48% females).

He noted that the number of years of experience of the sample is more than 10 years and 90% of them are from Egypt, while 10% experts from different nationalities (Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Emirates, and the Sultanate of Oman).

It is noteworthy that the study presents a proposed strategy to activate the role of Egyptians abroad in supporting the comprehensive forces of the state, and aims to monitor the causes and effects of the migration of Egyptians abroad, whether whether positive or negative, and identifying the volume of remittances from Egyptians abroad as a percentage of the gross domestic product, and developing a proposal for a strategy to activate the role of Egyptians abroad in supporting the forces of the state.

It is noteworthy that The publication includes several studies, including: a proposed strategy to activate the role of Egyptians abroad in supporting the comprehensive forces of the state, the informal economy in Egypt, the impact of the quality of education on sustainable human development in Egypt, and parental treatment and its relationship to methods of behavioral control of children.
