January 9.. Hend Sabry presents a wonderful performance "Wong Kar Wai" In a series "Cinema of the Global South" At an angle
Zawya Cinema launches the “Global South Cinema” program; Starting January 9, it aims to explore different cinematic geographies outside of Eurocentrism.
The program invites an elite group of filmmakers, including Yousry Nasrallah, Khairy Bishara, Hend Sabry, and Maryam Abu Auf. And Omar Al-Zuhairi, to choose films that inspired them to show and discuss with the audience.
The artist Hend Sabry chose the film “In the Mood.” For love" Directed by Wong Kar-wai, it is a stunning visual work that tells the story of an unspoken love with a nostalgic atmosphere and poignant music.
The film will be screened on January 9, followed by a live discussion with Hend Sabry, It will then be shown again on January 18 without discussion.
The program aims to shed light on the history and contemporary practices of filmmaking from the Global South, showcasing the diversity and cultural richness that takes place Marginalized in favor of mainstream Western production. This event is the first in a series of screenings organized by Zawya to introduce the audience to inspiring cinematic practices from around the world.
