University of Sharjah and"sun" They sign a memorandum of understanding to enhance media cooperation

Sharjah, April 15 / WAM / The University of Sharjah and Sharjah Media City (Shams) signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing joint cooperation in the fields of media, communication and public relations, and supporting the development of the media and creative environment in the Emirate of Sharjah, in a way that contributes to qualifying national competencies and empowering emerging talents.

This memorandum comes within the framework of the two sides’ keenness to consolidate strategic partnership relations, exchange scientific and knowledge expertise, and enhance integration between academic and professional aspects, in a way that serves the media and communication sector in the United Arab Emirates.

The memorandum was signed on behalf of the University of Sharjah by His Excellency Dr. Essam Al-Din Ajami, Director of the University, while it was signed on behalf of Sharjah Media City (Shams) by His Excellency Rashid Abdullah Al-Obed, Director-General, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.

Dr. Essam El-Din Ajami stressed that this memorandum represents an extension of the existing cooperation relationship between the two sides, pointing out the importance of the role played by “Shams” in supporting the university’s programs, especially in the College of Communication, by providing training opportunities and grants that contributed to refining students’ skills and empowering them.

He noted the support provided by “Shams” for the Master of Science program in media leadership and digital innovation, which the university is offering in cooperation with the University of Barcelona, ​​stressing that it is an academic model that combines cognitive excellence and international partnership.

He added that the University of Sharjah views the media as a tool for creating awareness and influence, and seeks through this partnership to prepare media cadres capable of keeping pace with the rapid transformations in the sector and contributing to its development.

For his part, His Excellency Rashid Abdullah Al-Obed stressed that the signing of the memorandum constitutes a strategic step towards enhancing integration between academic institutions and bodies supporting the media sector, in a way that supports building a media system based on innovation and knowledge, pointing to Shams’ commitment to empowering national competencies, embracing young talents, and providing a stimulating environment for creativity and media production.

The memorandum also aims to develop educational and media programs, implement awareness initiatives, and enhance the practical aspect of student education, in line with the requirements of the labor market.

Areas of cooperation include organizing events to discover media talents, conducting applied research and studies, supporting graduation projects, implementing specialized training programs and workshops in modern fields such as artificial intelligence, content creation and podcasts, in addition to organizing media conferences and forums, exchanging experiences, and exploring the establishment of incubators and laboratories for media innovation.
