Prince Turki bin Faisal: Strengthening national culture confronts behaviors alien to society


Under the patronage of His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister Culture, the work of the first day of the non-profit cultural sector forum in its first edition, organized by the Ministry of Culture at the King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh, began through the first dialogue session that was held this morning under the title "Culture as soft power: Redefining the role of the non-profit sector in shaping the future"

This came with the participation of His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, who began the session by emphasizing that culture in the Kingdom is based on Islamic principles, behaviors, morals and values that respect humanity and are proud of the legacy of the Arabian Peninsula.

Success of the non-profit cultural sector

His Highness praised the efforts of the Ministry of Culture, which created the necessary capabilities for the success of the various programs of non-profit cultural sector institutions. Al-Rabhi, stressing the role of the Saudi citizen in marketing and introducing his country’s culture, as its ambassador, through his commitment to its Islamic principles, morals, and national values.

His Highness praised the Kingdom’s efforts and its role in promoting national culture through educational programmes, which contributed to society’s response to any alien behavior in society, especially with the spread of social media.

It is noteworthy that the two-day forum comes to shed light on the cultural sector. Non-profits, their role in creating the cultural future, and the rich opportunities offered by the sector, which has been experiencing a major renaissance since the Ministry of Culture launched the strategy for the non-profit cultural sector, which included a group of qualitative initiatives, the most prominent of which is the initiative to establish professional associations, which witnessed the establishment of 16 professional associations, the harmonization of several entities moving from the Ministry of Information to the Ministry of Culture, the initiative to classify and qualify organizations for support, the development of non-profit cultural organizations, and the launch of the support-for-performance programme. To encourage non-profit organizations to apply for financial support conditional on performance; To ensure impact in the cultural sector and fill gaps in the cultural value chain.
