The UAE has 7 strategic projects for hydrogen production

Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, said: “Thanks to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and his brother His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of… Dubai, may God protect him, the foundations and competitive advantages of the UAE in the field of low-carbon hydrogen have been strengthened, and the achievement of national goals aimed at making the UAE one of the largest countries producing low-carbon hydrogen has been accelerated. carbon, and the least expensive in the world,” pointing out that the UAE has seven strategic projects for hydrogen production.
He added: “The country has great advantages in producing green hydrogen, such as the availability of solar energy, natural gas tanks suitable for blue hydrogen, which is derived from natural gas, with the capture and storage of carbon emitted during the process, and a strong and flexible infrastructure, in addition to strong strategic partnerships and global investments that find The UAE is an ideal market, especially since the country is the fastest growing market for clean and renewable energy sources in the region.”
Al Tayer continued: “The National Hydrogen Strategy plays an important role in enabling hydrogen as a reliable source of energy for the future, advancing the energy transition, stimulating investment and research aimed at enhancing the technologies used, reducing the cost of its production and storage, and establishing regulatory frameworks that will support the development and expansion of its scope and infrastructure. In line with the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, and the Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050 for the Emirate of Dubai to provide 100% of energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050, the UAE has seven strategic projects for hydrogen production, as the country’s production is expected to reach of hydrogen by 2050, between 14 million and 22 million tons annually, while global market production is expected to reach about 250 million. tons annually.
He pointed out that the “Green Hydrogen” project implemented by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority – which is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region to produce hydrogen using solar energy – works to consolidate the leadership and competitiveness of the UAE in the field of clean and renewable energy, and to support efforts to make the country among the countries Leading hydrogen export, with a share of up to 25% of the global hydrogen market by 2030.
