The UAE’s position is consistent in supporting Syria’s independence and sovereignty over its entire territory

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received yesterday, in Abu Dhabi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Transitional Government, Asaad Al-Shaibani.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed Minister Asaad Al Shaibani and the accompanying delegation, and during the meeting they discussed ways to strengthen the strong fraternal relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples in areas of common interest. They also discussed the overall developments in the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic, and the current regional situations, in addition to a number Issues of common interest.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan reiterated the UAE’s firm position in supporting Syria’s independence and sovereignty over its entire territory.

His Highness also affirmed that the UAE stands by the brotherly Syrian people, and supports all regional and international efforts that lead to achieving their aspirations for security, peace, stability and a decent life.

His Highness pointed out the importance of providing all factors of security and stability to the brotherly Syrian people, for a future of prosperity, progress and development.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Fadel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State, Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic and Commercial Affairs, Saeed. Mubarak Al-Hajri, and the UAE Ambassador to the Syrian Arab Republic, Hassan Ahmed Al-Shehhi.

The Syrian delegation included the Minister of Defense, Murhaf Abu Qasra, the Minister of Electricity, Omar Al-Shaqrouk, the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, Ghiyath Diab, and the head of the General Intelligence Service, Anas Khattab.
