The death toll from the Tibet earthquake has risen to 95 dead and 130 injured

The death toll from the earthquake that struck Dingri County in the Tibet Autonomous Region in southwestern China has risen to 95 dead and 130 injured, according to official statistics as of three o’clock this afternoon.
China Central Channel reported that the earthquake – which measured 6.8 on the Richter scale – struck the town of Zugu at exactly 9:05 am Beijing time.
Official data showed that the earthquake’s impact circle included 27 villages inhabited by about 6,900 people within a 20-kilometre radius of its epicenter, indicating that the total population of Dingri Governorate exceeds 61,000 people.
Local authorities confirmed the arrival of more than 3,400 rescuers and 340 medical personnel to the affected areas to participate in relief operations.
