Film Commission.. A virtual workshop to teach the basics of music composition

The Film Commission announced the organization of a virtual workshop aimed at teaching the basics of music composition for films, during the period from January 15 to 17, 2025.
This workshop comes within the Authority’s efforts to develop the skills of those interested in the field of film soundtracks, enhance their ability to explore the basic technologies used in digital audio workstations, and understand the mechanisms of sound design and music composition, with a focus on how to create emotional and dynamic music clips that enhance narratives in films and media. Media.

International award

The workshop features the participation of film composer, Layal Watfa, who is considered one of the most prominent names in the field of music composition in the Arab world, and has presented more than 30 musical works for series and feature films in the Middle East and North Africa. Layal won 15 international music awards.
The workshop targets those interested in the field of music and films, and gives participants the opportunity to learn about the role of music in telling cinematic stories and the foundations of music composition for films, while understanding the simple music theory concepts necessary to start writing musical clips without the need for previous experience.

Professional music

The workshop will also include practical training on how to arrange music for various musical instruments, and an exploration of professional music programs used by international composers in composing and editing music clips for films, while providing practical models for creating music suitable for different types of films, such as comedies and action films.
Between 30 and 40 trainees participate in the workshop, and admission criteria require good command of the English language and a demonstrated interest in the fields of music and film.
This workshop is an exceptional opportunity to develop the participants’ skills and qualify them to contribute to enhancing the film music industry on a professional level.
